The village of Kangiqsualujjuaq is a remote Inuit settlement in the Canadian Arctic and home to the film's three protagonists: Annah-Sky, Kathy and Ellasie. Spring has just arrived and while the youngest, Annah-Sky, explores the village alongside its dogs, Kathy faces the tough decision of whether to stay or leave the community to study music in Montreal as she graduates from high school. The melting ice makes the water accessible again and social worker Ellasie organizes traditional fishing trips to bring the community's youth and elders together. The film gently approaches the village from various perspectives, following its three female protagonists as well as a group of children and two stray dogs. It aims to portray the vulnerable state of a community that is deeply shaped by colonialism, yet reclaiming its identity and moving toward emancipation. As the village children interview each other at night on topics like family, belonging and faith, the protagonists also explore self-expression and playfully become an active part of the filmmaking process.
