  • Re-registration

    You are re-registered with the timely transfer of the student union fee. If you re-register on time, you will receive your leporello and your student ID (with MVV authorization for the semester ticket) in good time before the new semester starts.


    re-register period

    The re-register period for summer semester 2023 is over.

    The re-registration  period for winter semester 2023/24 is from June 12th to June 30th 2023.

    re-register semester fee

    Students have to pay a student union fee of 85,00 € (at the moment) per semester. This fee includes only a contribution to the Studentenwerk without the contribution for public transport.

    According to the vote of the students of the HFF Munich on December 14th in 2016
    HFF has been participating in the MVV semester ticket since the summer semester of 2018.
    Since the registration for the summer semester 2018, a contribution for the semester ticket has been charged to the basic fee for the Studentenwerk. (This regulation is temporarily suspended).

    re-registration in case of vacational semester

    The semester fee must be paid by all students upon re-registration, even in case of a vacational semester.


    Exemption from the contribution for the semester ticket (public transport fee) is only possible for severely disabled students: upon presentation of the ID for severe disabilities in conjunction with the supplementary sheet for free transportation and a valid token for the right to free transportation.
    There are no other exemptions.

  • Vacation requests

    If you want to apply for a vacational semester in case of illness, studying abroad, internship, case-by-case assessment or caring for a close relative please contact the registrar's office. There you will get the vacation request.

    Please note: As a matter of principle, leave requests can only be applied for one semester each, including parental leave.

    Please note: No coursework and exams can be taken during the leave of absence. Repetition of failed tests is possible (Art. 48 Para. 3 BayHSchG). Not in case of cariing for a close relative!

    Please note: Students cannot borrow any equipment during the vacation semester and also cannot book editing rooms or other rooms (cinemas, sound mixing, etc.) at the HFF Munich.

    During a vacational semester students can't work as "Studentische Hilfskraft".



    Vacation semesters must be applied for within these deadlines:
    - for the summer semester, by April 30th at the latest
    - for the winter semester, no later than October 30th.

    Only in cause the important reason for applying for a vacation semester occurs later without having been foreseeable the request can be filed
    - for the summer semester no later than June 5th,
    - for the winter semester no later than December 5th.

  • Maternity and parental leave

    If you want to apply for a vacation semester in case of maternity protection, maternity leave and maternity leave for fathers please contact the regitstrar's office. There you will get the vacation request.

    Please note: As a matter of principle, leave requests can only be applied for one semester each, including parental leave.

    Please note: Pursuant to Art. 48 Para. 4 BayHSchG, students can complete study and examination work during the leave of absence despite the leave of absence due to the use of maternity leave or parental leave.

     Examination periods do not continue.

    However, deadlines for repeating failed tests continue to run despite leave of absence (Art. 48 para. 3 BayHSchG). An application for an extension of the repetition period must therefore be submitted to the Examination Board.

    During a vacational semester students can't work as "Studentische Hilfskraft".


    maternity protection

    Students on maternity leave are subject to special conditions, including employment ban 6 weeks before the calculated birth date and 8 weeks after the birth.

    You ca apply for a vacation semester in case of maternity protection if the employment ban covers more than the half of the lecture period of the semester you apply for.

    maternity leave

    You can apply for a vacation semester in casse of maternity leave until completion the third birthday of your child (BEEG).

    For children born from 01.07.2015 a share of up to 24 months of the 3-year maternity leave can be claimed on application till the 8th birthday of the child.

     Parents can apply for maternity leave together up to 6 semesters for each child.

    maternity leave for fathers

    Fathers can apply for maternity leave from the calculated date of birth. A claim of maternity leave exists however till the birth of the child. The first semester of maternity leave is granted for fathers if the date of birth drops in the first half of lecture period of the semester.
