A beer garden and barn scenery, singers in traditional costumes and Volksmusik, that´s „Musikantenstadl“ („Stadl“), one of the biggest TV shows in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. 7 million people watch it on TV, an enthusiastic fanbase of 3000 follow it live, encouraged by a professional „warm-upper“. Friedrich has loved Volksmusik ever since he was a child. Volksmusik is his main interest next to his studies of protestant theology. He knows all artists, all the lyrics and he saves every single cent to afford the trips to the Musikantenstadl. Gusti and Helmut from Austria are Stadl experts. They´ve been following the show for ages and even remember the beginning 27 years ago. They are well known by the staff and get a backstage pass to watch rehearsals and take pictures with the singers. Harald and Lydia from East Germany celebrate New Years Eve in the Stadl each year. They could only watch the show on TV when the Berlin wall was still standing. After unification they took their chance to make the trip to the Stadl the year´s highlight. Friedrich, Gusti and Helmut, Lydia and Harald don´t miss out on a single Musikantenstadl. They share the passion for Volksmusik. For three hours during the show they forget the daily routine and just party. To be at the Stadl they organise the year´s schedule around the show and travel for hours to the fair venues, where Musi-kantenstadl is produced. „Friends of Volksmusik“ is about the motives of dedicated fans and their approach to life. Friedrich, Gusti and Helmut, Lydia and Harald are at different ages and have different lifestyles but they share one passion: They are fans of the „Musikantenstadl“, one of the most successful Volksmusik TVLifeshows in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. They don´t miss out on a single Musikantenstadl. There they forget the daily routine and just party. Their years highlight is the Silvesterstadl on New Year´s Eve. „Friends of Volksmusik“ is about the motives of dedicated fans and their approach to life.
